This beautiful print represents Manjushri Bodhisattva, associated with prajñā (insight) in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Scholars have identified Manjushri as the oldest and most significant bodhisattva in Mahāyāna literature, first referred to in early Mahāyāna sūtras such as the Prajñāpāramitā sutras, and through this association, he came to symbolize the embodiment of transcendent wisdom very early in the tradition.
Printed on standard-size Shikishi paperboard, which originated over a thousand years ago in Heian Japan, and which is still used for traditional painting, writing, calligraphy, illustrations, autographs, waka/haiku poetry and more.
