Nishi Amida Nyorai depicted here is the chief Bodhisattva of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji school of Buddhism in Japan. This Buddha statue was created under the supervision of Daibutsushi Kokari Hodori, who worked Fudo Myo of Ichijo Hachijo. Featuring a shiny luster and excellent durability, the Buddha’s expression was especially carefully done. The red seal of Kokari Hodori is stamped on the bottom of the statue.
