This wallet was made in collaboration with a local kimono accessories maker in Kamakura, Japan, and takes its inspiration from Buddhist iconography and traditional Japanese crafts. Each element of the wallet has its own symbolism, with the outer colored fabric representing the Buddha’s body or solid earth, which in Buddhism is said to bring fortune and prosperity, and a wooden charm of a strong demon happily supporting the Buddha’s feet (or by extension our own). Despite or because of its purpose of holding money, this wallet is a symbol of our aim to transcend selfish possession and approach enlightenment.
