This deep-steamed farmers’ green tea is from one of Japan’s leading tea producing regions, the Iwatahara Plateau in Shizuoka Prefecture. Shizukaen single sources all its teas from individual farmers in Iwatahara, insuring consistency, quality, and a commitment to tradition and taste.
Farmers’ tea (or “Aracha” in Japanese) is what is traditionally drunk by the tea farmers themselves. Unlike regular Japanese green tea, aracha is made using the entire tea leaf (the leaf, stem, powder, etc), which results in a dark green color, and a rich, bold taste full of vitality. Because the tea leaf parts are not sorted, more nutrients are included than would otherwise be the case, leading to not only a bolder tea, but also a healthier one.
