This genmaicha tea is from one of Japan’s leading tea producing regions, the Iwatahara Plateau in Shizuoka Prefecture. Shizukaen single sources all its teas from individual farmers in Iwatahara, insuring consistency, quality, and a commitment to tradition and taste.

Genmaicha, also known colloquially as “people’s tea”, or “popcorn tea” in Japan, is made from green tea mixed with roasted popped brown rice. The result in a tea with a warm, full, nutty flavor, that combines the fresh grassy flavor of green tea with the aroma of the roasted rice. Genmaicha is considered easy to drink, and to help sooth an upset stomach.
