From Yamashiro, one of Kyoto’s leading suppliers of premium Uji-style teas, this “Uji Hikari” variety gyokuro tea is grown by Seiichi Yamaoka, a tea farmer in the south of Ujitawara Town, Tsuzuki District, Kyoto Prefecture. It features a light taste, rich sweetness, and a mellow aroma combined with the finest umami.
Gyokuro is the highest grade of Japanese green tea, grown on special tea plantations and traditionally shaded with straw mats for the last 3-4 weeks before picking. This tea is best enjoyed in small sips, to allow the rich aroma, and gentle, subtle flavors to fill your palate.
