Bancha is an everyday traditional workman’s tea in Japan, made from roasted green tea, and similar to Hojicha. This bancha is made with Miyazaki Sabo’s “Kama-iricha” method of roasting, rare in Japan and with a unique aroma and taste. The tea is grown and made in Gokase in Miyazaki prefecture, a mountainous high-altitude area with panoramic views of Mt Aso, Mt Neko, and Mt Kusumi nearby. Large temperature differences between day and night create a very aromatic tea, and because of the high altitude, Miyazaki Chabo has been making pesticide free teas since the 1980s, and acquired Organic JAS certification in 2001. Soon after, it wone the Emperor’s Cup at the National Agriculture and Forestry Festival.
The local farmers’ motto is “making tea that makes you feel better while drinking it”. The meaning is that we always try to make tea that will make our customers feel better, heal their hearts, have delicious taste and be happy. So we hope you will enjoy this bancha roasted green tea, and try our other varieties as well.
