From Yamashiro, one of Kyoto’s leading suppliers of premium Uji-style teas, this “Yamashiro no Shizuku” brand gyokuro tea features a sweet and refreshing taste. Gyokuro is the highest grade of Japanese green tea, grown on special tea plantations and traditionally shaded with straw mats for the last 3-4 weeks before picking. This tea is best enjoyed in small sips, to allow the rich aroma, and gentle, subtle flavors to fill your palate.
Gyokuro teas are usually steeped at low temperatures, but this tea includes small amounts of amino acids in order for it to be able to be more easily prepared in boiling water, as is typical with most non-gyokuro green teas.
